I was back at Toone's puppet theatre (http://www.toone.be/) this evening,
this time for a performance in *Brussels (Brabantish).*
The audience was 5x as large as what came to the performance in *Brussels
French* some days ago.
(Obviously it was a Friday evening and a public holiday)
Brussels as language makes the play more naturally funny than what the
artificial Brusels French can do.
Maybe the higher quality level had also to do with the whole thing being
steered by Thoone-father this time, where the son coached the French thing.
Where the Duke of Buckingham spoke "French with a pure masculine grammar"
last time, he spoke "Belgian Dutch" this time, while all others spoke
Brussels Brabantish dialect.
A remarkable event will be the performance in Brussels (Brabantish) of
*Saturday
May 9 at 11.30 am*.
It will be a performance (open to the public) of "De drââ Mousketairs" in
honor and with presence of the collegues from the Gent theatre.
After a lunch break with "boterhammen met plattekeis" they will offer
clothes of *Pierke Pierlala* to the Brussels *Manneke Pis* and dress our
poor guy. This will happen at the monument at *3 pm*.
*Pierke Pierlala* is a folkloric figure in *Ghent,* see:
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierlala
He as apparently associable with
Beurlala / Bierelala / Petermänchen from *Stade* in Niedersachsen.
In Belgian Dutch a name often used in stead of marionet (puppet) is *
poesjenel.*
In Wikipedia it is unfortunately focussed on Antwerp only:

Roger

Hi, Roger, and thanks!
"Burlala" is a well-known Low Saxon song that comes in dialectical
variations, two of them here:
