Thanks Tomas, you wrote exactly what I think about this. I'm very glad that
Ron mentioned the beginning of Ramadhan, just like he does every year, as
with important holidays of other religions.
I'm very much ashamed to say that in my country, the Netherlands, too many
people are so intolerant nowadays about everything that has to do with Islam
and Muslims, and for them anything positive - or rather even anything
neutral and not rejecting - said about these subjects is suspicious, and
they'll react in a childish, jealous way. People who don't want to go along
with this Hetze, are being met with a lot of suspicion too. But as Ron
wrote: he always has mentioned all kind of religious holidays, so there
wasn't any need for this so-called surprised suspicion here.
Insha'allah this negative trend will come to an end soon. Allahu akbar

Personally I think that it is a nice touch. Not all Muslims are responsible
for the likes of 911, no more than all Christians are responsible for the
Oslo tragedy. It should not be an issue.
On a side note, to keep up with whats on for holidays Ron, the Wikipedia
would be an invaluable help. Look on its main page on the day of posting...
balabing... the anniversaries and events for that day are there.

Dear Ron,
You wrote >: Welcome to Lowlands-L in August of 2011! "رمضان مبارك" to the
Muslims among you!
What strikes me in your Administativia’s Welcome on the first of August is
that you pay attention to the "Ramadan Moubarak" this month. I’ve never seen
before that you mentioned special Muslim, Jewish, Christian or any other
(religious) holidays in your word of Welcome.
Nothing against it, just wondering: is there a special reason to do so? Do I
miss the link?
Mit een vrundelike groet uut Stellingwarf,
Piet Bult

Hi, Piet!
No there is no method or consistency. I tend to send holiday greetings with
my postings (not only Administrativa ones) whenever I am personally aware of
such holidays on those days or just in the offing. As other Lowlanders will
confirm, over the years I have been doing so with Christian, Muslim, Jewish,
Baha'i, Persian/Kurdish (Nowruz), Hindu, Buddhist, Celtic and Wicca
holidays.
The beginning of Ramadan coincided with the monthly administrative posting.
Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
