Beste Mark
Subject: LL-L "Grammar"
u vraag:
"Ons sê “that” in byna alle situasies. Ons kan sê “He is the man that lives
next door” in plaas van “He is the man who lives next door.” Ons kan beide
sê, maar ek glo DAT J ons sê “that” meer dikwels as “what.” Dus, ek nie weet
WAT die regte gebruik is nie. Wat sê julle?"
Lees 'n bietjie saam:
Wie woon langsaan?
(Who lives next door?)
Hy woon langsaan!
(He lives next-door!)
Hy wat langsaan woon boer met konyne.
(He who lives next door farms rabbits.)
- 'n gesegde.
(That which fills the heart overflows at the mouth. - a saying)
Hou 'dat' liewers opsy vir 'n nougesette 'that': Soos in
(Hold 'dat' rather to one side for a narrowly focussed 'that': As in
Dit vir dat.
(This for that.)
Ek glo dat hy lewe.
(I believe that he lives.)
(But 'dat', our 'that' gets reasonably little use.)
'Dit', jou 'this', in teendeel word oorals toegepas: By voorbeeld
('Dit, your 'this' on the contrary, is used all over: As in)
Dit sal die dag wees!
(That will be the day!) "Not @$#*^!+ing likely!"
Dit sal my mooi pas.
(This will fit me well.)
Dis genoeg. "dit + is"
(That is enough.)
Dit kom jou toe.
(you deserve it.)
(I assume you have a Grammer, but my suggegestion is *that* you focus on
the Taal in use rather than only on the frame.)
By voorbeeld: Lees voortdurend romanne, Dalene Mattee sou my keuse wees.
(For example: Read novels continuously, Dalene Matthee would be my
choice. Another sly device is to read the Bible.)
Ek vermoed jy ken
jou Bybel!
(This last is an old, proven method, & effective: To read works in the
language you are learning in parallel with works that you know. I
presume you know your Bible!)
Die Bybel is veral toepaslik in die verband omrede die gehalte taalgebruik
en vertaling daaraan besteë.
(The Bible is particularly applicable in this context owing to the
quality of language-use and translation dedicated thereto.)
(In a nut-shell, let the subconscious mind rather determine your choice
of word, out of the treasury you are continuously absorbing, rather than
trying to reason out the mechanics of Afrikaans. Take note: I hereby
reveal unto you the easy way to fluency in Afrikaans. The lazy man's
option!)
Die Uwe,
Mark
