The Afrikaans “glo” as used in the sentence you gave as an example is an
adverb and etymologically it comes from the phrase “Ik geloof” - “I believe”
like we would say in English “I believe he had a stroke yesterday” Meaning
“I have heard it for the truth, but still don’t know whether it is true.
