Dear Lowlands Friends,

If you can read German subtitles you might enjoy watching this presentation
about North Frisian and Low Saxon (Low German) language loyalty and its
challenges in Germany's northernmost state of Schleswig-Holstein (which,
realistically speaking, constitutes the southern part of the Jutland
Peninsula, the northern part being under Danish rule)..

And, as you may able to discern, the question of minority Danish keeps
entering the equation (mostly based on ignorance among average Germans).

Germany's northernmost  state ( the most multilingual state) of Germany has
indigenous speakers of the following languages:

   - Standard German (introduced lately, but nowadays predominant)
   - Low Saxon ("Low German," historically predominant)
   - Danish:
      - (Southern) Jutish
      - Standard Danish (because of official education policies)
   - Frisian (several languages)
      - North Frisian (several languages, both continental and insular)
   - Romany

(Not to mention Turkish, Kurdish, Greek, Italian and other immigrant
languages.)

(In ancient times there used to be West Slavic language varieties spoken in
the eastern part of the Jutland peninsula and on the Danish island of
Falster as well.)
