cuaxochtli

Hello. Could anyone help me with the etimology of "cuaxochtli"(land border, 
lindero)?
Does it have something to do with "cuaitl" and/or "xochitl"? In some 
colonial documents I'm reading, I've also seen the form "cuaxochitli" 
instead of "cuaxochtli".
