I realize I didn't answer your question completely. I don't know what 
the -tla- is in that word.

There is of course an "abundance" postposition -tlah, as xallah 
(xal-tlah), cuauhtlah. But that attaches to noun stems. Perhaps -xip- 
is analyzed as a noun stem? Sorry. I don't get it. tla:tl? That's a 
stretch, no pun intended.
