Résumé du programme:

Canonical Typology: a single perspective on languages of very different types

We shall consider recent work in an approach to typology which has come to be known as “Canonical Typology”. Data from a range of languages, familiar and less familiar, will be discussed. No previous familiarity with these languages will be assumed. The concern will be to understand the data, and to determine how we can compare meaningfully across languages of different types. Presentation will be in English; questions, comments, discussion in French are very welcome. There will be four lectures:

1: Canonical typology: principles and criteria

2: Canonical typology: interesting phenomena in morphology

3: Second level canonicity

4: Canonical morphosyntactic features
