devanagari font on Mac

Hi Murray,
Timely question! I have also been trying to figure that out recently.
I'll tell you what I know, and I hope someone else will chime in with
a better answer.
The short answer is that it doesn't seem to work in Word, but it will
work in TextEdit. First, though, you have to activate the devanagari
keyboard. So go to System Preference>International, then click the
Input Menu tab. At this point you'll see a long list of international
scripts, so check the box for devanagari (and devanagari QWERTY).
Also, check the box marked "Show input menu in menu bar."
Next, open TextEdit, then click on the input menu (shaped like a flag)
and select your devanagari input. You can also open the keyboard
viewer there to see what they layout is.
But as I said, if anyone has better tips for this, I would also like
to hear them.
