Linguistics in the Pub (LIP) August 2010
Organised by RNLD http://www.rnld.org
InField is a US-based training summer institute on that has been run twice,
first at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2008 and most
recently at the University of Oregon (
http://logos.uoregon.edu/infield2010/home/index.php). InField is an
opportunity for linguists, language activists, language teachers and members
of minority language communities to receive linguistics field training on a
variety of topics that are relevant to language documentation, maintenance,
and revitalization.
In this LIP session Margaret Florey and Nick Thieberger will report on their
experience of training at this InField and discuss possibilities for future
training workshops in Australia.
Date: Tuesday 3rd August
Time: 7:00 pm (or come at 6pm to have dinner before the meeting if you
like)

LIP is an occasional gathering of language activists and linguists in
Melbourne. All are welcome. Those in other parts of Australia and the
world who can't make it to the Melbourne LIPs are encouraged to
organise a local gathering to discuss this topic and support language
activities in your area.
