Dear RNLDers,
John White, from the The House of Representatives Standing Committee on
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, will lead a session on the *
Inquiry into language learning in Indigenous
communities<http://www.aph.gov.au/house/committee/atsia/languages/index.htm>
* at RNLD's upcoming symposium on Strengthening language maintenance through
cooperative training strategies
<http://www.rnld.org/Linguapax-conference>(to be held in Melbourne
from Thursday 18 to Friday 19 August,). John will
outline the terms of reference and goals of the inquiry, and will distribute
and discuss a questionnaire which the committee is using to collect
supporting information on languages and their use.
This is a great opportunity for us to have active input into the inquiry.
RNLD will also coordinate a submission to the inquiry which will incorporate
issues and discussion arising during the symposium.
kind regards,
Margaret
