Hi all,

I thought you might like to know if you've not seen it already that the Protocol to Ensure Language Rights, or the Donostia Protocol, has been released publicly. Their homepage protokoloa.eus describes it as a "tool to meet the challenge of safeguarding the rights of Europe's minority languages", specifically within a European context but of course there are similar patterns everywhere. It seems to be a wide-ranging attempt to address language minoritization with advisory measures, as an expansion of similar declarations including the 1996 UN Declaration of Linguistic Rights and the European Charter for Regional and Minority Languages. I anticipate we'll see some papers analyzing this within the coming years!

I'm yet to read it in any detail but will make time for it soon.

English starts on page 119 and it's also here in several other European languages.

Best, and apologies for crossposting,

Paul Sutherland
