Hi All

Please see the below message from Sue Hanson at Goldfields Aboriginal
Language Centre re a Lexicography Workshop in Kalgoorlie in May this year.
Please contact Sue (details below) for further info.

Hello,

The Goldfields Aboriginal Language Centre will be hosting a 5 day
lexicography (dictionary making) workshop in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia
from the 7th to the 11th of May. The workshop will be run by international
Lexicographers, Michael Rundell, Vojtěch Kovář and Miloš Jakubíček of
Lexicom https://lexicom. courses <https://lexicom.courses/>

Michael Rundell is an editor with MacMillan Dictionary so this is a
fantastic opportunity to work with someone in the field of international
dictionary writing.

The workshop is, '... an intensive 5-day workshop in lexicography and
lexical computing. It combines practical work and theoretical perspectives,
to provide training in the making of corpus-based dictionaries and the
software that supports this activity.'

The workshop will provide participants with the latest information about
lexicography, work through the issues with dictionary making and teach
participants how to transfer their data into online and interactive
dictionaries. Along with working through lexicography matters, the workshop
will also introduce participants to the following programs. All
participants receive a 3-year Sketch Engine licence with the workshop.

*1. **Sketch Engine* (https://www. sketchengine.co.uk
<https://www.sketchengine.co.uk/>) is the industry-standard corpus-querying
system.

*2. Lexonomy* (http://www.lexonomy. eu <http://www.lexonomy.eu/>) is a
“dictionary-writing system” - a software tool for compiling and editing
dictionary text (where you create your dictionary), which also allows the
dictionary to be published online.

Cost is $900 per place. There are 13 places left in the workshop as of Jan
2018.
