RST subject matter

Dear RSTLISTers
Having consulted the RST's home page I found out that RST deals with
coherence of texts and their structure. I have always thought that these
problems are within the scope of text grammar as it is understood by
W.Dressler, R.A.De Beaugrande, F.Dane? and other prominent European scholars
(see, e.g. Introduction to text linguistics / Robert-Alain de Beaugrande,
Wolfgang Ulrich Dressler . London : Longman, 1981). So is there any
essential difference between RTS and text grammar? What is the RST's subject
matter?
I am a newcomer to this list, so please enlighten me on this point.
