Academic Director Position in Ho Chi Minh City
Academic Studies Abroad
SIT

General Description:
The Academic Studies Abroad department of SIT runs 56 semester abroad
programs. An Academic Director leads each program. The role of the
Academic
Director is essentially threefold: 1) teaching, 2) organizing, 3)
advising.
These roles derive from the uniqueness of the College Semester Abroad
program which combines traditional course work and field-based learning
into a rigorous 15 week academic program for students from colleges and
universities throughout the US. Additionally, the Academic Director is
responsible for all organizational aspects of the program, including
liaising with in-country academics and local experts to act as resource
persons, management of program logistics, administration, budget, and
conducting the program review and academic evaluation at the end of each
semester, which includes preparing written evaluations for each
student's
academic transcript. The Academic Director reports to the relevant
Regional
Director at Academic Studies Abroad, SIT.  For more information, look at

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in Social Sciences or Humanities, Ph.D.
preferred
- Substantial academic and/or practical experience in Viet Nam
- Competency in Vietnamese language
- Teaching experience at the US undergraduate level
- Demonstrated leadership working with a diverse group of US
undergraduates

- Demonstrated administrative abilities
- Budget management skills
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability

Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the educational philosophy of SIT and field-based
learning/teaching techniques
- Experience leading groups outside of the US

Dependent on qualifications and experience
