Dear SEELANGers,
I was wondering if anyone out there could help me track
down a particular quote I recently heard...?
Supposedly, Milan Kundera has somewhere been quoted as
saying something to the effect that:
"The struggle of man against authority (tyranny?) is the
struggle of memory against forgetfulness."
What I need to know is exactly WHERE and WHEN Kundera
made this statement, and indeed, what the exact wording
of the quote is in reality? I only heard it in passing
on television once, and I really like it as a statement,
but I need to be able to quote it and document it acurately
for my academic work (and in actual fact I am a Germanist
with a side interest in Slavic studies, so please forgive
my ignorance)....As this is such a small point, please
reply privately so as not to clutter up the list...many
thanks in advance!
