It's a private (joint-)stock company as opposed to a public joint-stock company (the latter being "àêöèîíåðíîå îáùåñòâî îòêðûòîãî òèïà"). 

Closed-end mutual fund is translated as "èíâåñòèöèîííûé (sometimes *ñîâìåñòíûé* or *âçàèìíûé*) ôîíä çàêðûòîãî òèïà"
