Sedan by Pawel Herts

Dear SEELANGers,
   I would appreciate if anybody could tell me what the title of the
Polish writer Pawel Hertz's collection of short stories Sedan (1948) stand
for.   Does the writer mean a type of car or the name of the French city?
I have to translate the title into Japanese without (alas!) knowing the
content of the book.
