The Secretary and the Reset Button (A case for promoting U.S. Russian language study)

I'm curious to know how a conversation thread about a translation mistake quickly turned into a conversation about Dr. Rice and her Russian language abilities.  As far as I can tell, we don't have much evidence to support her language abilities one way or another.  What do have the decisions that she made in office, with which we can chose to agree or disagree. However, if the conversation is about the current state department and the mistranslation then that is in no way a reflection of Condoleeza Rice, her policies or her Russian language abilities.
