TISLR 8?

Dear Listers,

I'd like to come back to the brief thread on TISLR 8. For a while, I've been
actually considering the possibility of organizing it in Barcelona in 2004.
My first attempt was to try and get it linked to the Forum of Cultures 2004
(April-September) as one of the many parallel events to the core programme,
but the organizing committee finally turned down the proposal (not flashy
enough from their point of view, I'm afraid...). That shouldn't be the end of
the story, though. The only important consideration is that, if we want to
have it here in 2004, it should take place before or after the Forum of
Cultures, in order to avoid organizational nightmares. That would leave us
with early or late 2004. Being realistic, I think the best choice for us
would be late 2004 (October/November?). Is that a possibility or should it
rather take place in the summer?

The conference would be organized by the Linguistics Department of the
University of Barcelona, where I recently started a research unit on
Theoretical SL Linguistics.

On the basis of the feedback I get from you, I'll make the formal proposal or
not. Please comment on this either during or right after the Xmas break,
because if we go for it, we should start applying for funding as soon as
possible.
