University teachers of sign language - defining qualifications????

Hello Rannveig!

Greetings from Brazil!

If I understood correctly, you are talking about a degree to form sign
language teachers as an undergraduate level... So... Here at Brazil, we
already have this kind of degree and it been offer for the Deaf people
willing to become Deaf teachers of Brazilian Sign Language, as also, to
hearing people to become Sign Language Translators and Interpreters
graduated in accordance to the new tendencies of the Sign Language
Translation and Interpreting Studies under the scope of Translation Studies,
as also, the Interpreting Studies.

Everything was started at the South of Brazil, precisely, at Santa Catarina
Federal University (http://www.libras.ufsc.br) and the Prof. PhD Ronice
Müller de Quadros <ronice at cce.ufsc.br> was one of the leading coordinators
of all this graduation program, since 2006.

I guess that, if you get in touch with her as one of the team members of the
Brazilian Sign Language and correpondend literature degree and bachelor
degree offered as an *e*-learning undergraduate corse (named here *
Letras-Libras*) you will find many helpful information about the
qualifications for teachers of sign language on BA level!

Sorry for any English errors in my speech here! Even having a master degree
in Translation Studies with a research about translation performances from
Brazilian Portuguese to Brazilian Sign Language, I still remain having
difficulties to write some words in English! I will be a foreigner forever!
