Dear SW List, Adam and Erika...
Welcome to the SignWriting List! This is always an interesting subject,
and one we have talked about a lot on this List too...Why do some
people accept a new idea quickly, and why are others skeptical or
against new ideas?...Because they are afraid to do something different
than their friends most likely...

But when it comes to Deaf people and their languages, there is a little
more to it, than just that reason...I will be happy to share different
reasons, and also write-ups on the web...

First...If you go to the Questions and Answers section on the web:

Questions and Answers About SignWriting
http://signwriting.org/about/questions/questions.html

and scroll down to Question 25....

Why Has SignWriting Been Controversial?
.....discussing issues on the SignWriting List.....
http://signwriting.org/about/questions/quest021.html

You will find some answers from questions on this List posted in 1997...

I will be back to post more information about this
later...meanwhile...I hope other people will jump in and give us your
experiences and opinions too...

Val ;-)
