Yes. That is correct. Vertical writing gives us some advantages that
writing horiztonally does not. That is why Deaf people who were native
to ASL and skilled in SignWriting requested that the vertical writing
become the standard and I believe in it strongly. The only problem is
that software is not developed yet to compose correctly with SignLanes.
Stephen's SignText is the first program in history to attempt the issue
of weight shifting and SignLanes, but even after it is developed I will
need to teach people how to use the SignLanes properly...It may be a
couple of years before there is enough documentation...Val ;-)
