Dear SW List, and Dictionary Editors...
First, a special THANK YOU to Stephen, for the hard work you are doing,
with little financial support. I am doing my best to get you a grant,
but I can see you are working sooo hard for us anyway, and I hope you
know how much we appreciate all you are doing...
Second, the dictionary-editors using SignPuddle, such as Charles
Butler, Ron Dettloff, and Anny in French-Switzerland....a special THANK
YOU to you too, for working so hard and enthusiastically!
Third, I am happy to help a little bit, with your dictionary editing in
SignPuddle, but for the past few days I have not been well, and I do
not want to hold anyone back from your important dictionary work...
Fourth, here is my suggestion...If you need to do true dictionary
editing right now, which involves the following features:
1. create new signs
2. change old signs
3. delete signs
4. re-name signs
5. duplicate signs and rename them and add them as a separate entry
6. add new word definitions after the sign has been added
7. create vocabulary lists
8. print those vocabulary lists
If you need those features, then I suggest you use SignWriter DOS for
now. Your SignPuddle dictionary will always be there to work with, but
we cannot expect that Stephen will be able to add those new features to
SignPuddle immediately. It took Rich Gleaves and I, when we developed
SignWriter DOS, several YEARS to add all those features, because we had
so little funding for Rich, and we did it in pieces...and things are no
different now...such is life!
At the moment, SignWriter DOS has the most extensive dictionary
management software, for word-to-sign dictionaries we have...so why not
use all those features?...
Questions? Feel free to ask!
Val ;-)
