Hello Honza, everyone in the Czech Republic, and Stefan, Ingvild...
Great photo, Stefan (see attached)...
And the Czech SignPuddle is very big now...congrats to all of you!
Regarding writing fingerspelling in SignWriting...
There are two ways to write it...
1. Demonstration fingerspelling, like the attached photo - the way
hearing people are usually taught to fingerspell
2. Fast Fingerspelling handshapes that happen while fingerspelling at
speed
The latter is what I chose for writing ASL fingerspelling. The ASL
Fingerspelling Keyboard in SignWriter DOS and Java, for example, is
based on how the hand looks when you fingerspell quickly in ASL. You
cannot get your hands into perfect positions at all times, like
demonstration fingerspelling does...
So the Czech SignPuddle's fingerspelling writing for the letter S (in
SignPuddle), is probably based more on how one really signs it, I
suspect...but this demonstration photo is beautiful, Stefan! I had
trouble doing this position smile...I am a foreigner to this
language, clearly....Val ;-)
