several signs for one word

In PUddle 1 when one would enter another sign for the same word....  
it would automatically convert it into _2

for exemple:
cat
cat_2

there doesn't seem to be such  a thing in Puddle 1.5 ???

How are we supposed to do when one wants the translate option... or  
the signtext option ???

can you tell me more about it ?
