Hi Jonathan,
To change signs from righthand to lefthand without to change from 
"receptive" to "expressive" viewpoint, unfortunately simple mirroring 
cannot be done with ALL symbols.
I think that Handshapes can allways be mirrored.
Face-expressions and Eye-directions can - as far as i know - be mirrored 
too.
Contact-symbols: some can be mirrored - like , , , and - but /others 
cannot/ (what about mirroring this symbol?) .
Movement-arrows: righthand-arrows have filled head and lefthand-arrows 
have a hollow head , so if you mirror an arrow in the signtext 
rectangle, i.e. changing position of a righthand movement from right 
side to the left side, you also have to change his head from filled to 
hollow, because the movement must now be done with the left hand. But 
arrows for movement of both hands simultaneous, can be mirrored without 
problem head must not change.
This shows, that one must have an good understanding of the 
sutton-sign-sequence for programming an intelligent algorithm to
1) simply mirror symbols in the signtext rectangle that can be mirrored,
2) simply change position of symbols in the signtext rectangle that 
can't be mirrored () and
3) mirror arrows in the signtext rectangle and change the arrowhead for 
lefthand or righthand movements
