Hi list,

Quick update...

I will be releasing the SignText source code under the GPL. I've
registered a project with SourceForge that is pending approval. I've
spoken with Val and we hope to have an official package ready in January
2008 that includes the ISWA under the OFL as well.

SignText documents will have 2 formats: XML syntax and a compact
syntax. Now would be a great time for comments and feedback.

XML syntax example (423 characters)
--------------------
<stml>
  <sign lane="0">
    <symbol x="10" y="15">01-01-001-01-01-01</symbol>
    <symbol x="20" y="55">02-01-001-01-01-01</symbol>
    <symbol x="70" y="17">03-01-001-01-01-01</symbol>
  </sign>
  <sign lane="1">
    <symbol x="20" y="23">04-01-001-01-01-01</symbol>
    <symbol x="50" y="57">02-01-001-01-01-01</symbol>
  </sign>
  <sign lane="-1">
    <symbol x="10" y="10">01-01-001-01-01-01</symbol>
  </sign>
</stml>

Compact syntax example (156 characters)
---------------------
01-01-001-01-01-01,10,15,02-01-001-01-01-01,20,55,03-01-001-01-01-01,70,17,0
04-01-001-01-01-01,20,23,02-01-001-01-01-01,50,57,1
01-01-001-01-01-01,10,10,-1

I am looking into writing an extension for MediaWiki. Last year I wrote
an extension to display SignWriting in MediaWiki. This time I'll also
try to integrate SignText as well.

Regards
-Steve
