SignWriting List
May 6, 2008
Hi Jonathan -
I also want to thank you for your enthusiastic interest in the SWIS
and our new software that is to come...I am just sooo happy to see the
old signs written with the old IMWA, converting to the new symbols
using the ISWA, so perfectly...That is to Steve's credit, because his
software did the conversion from the old to the new, so
seamlessly...it is very impressive!
I can't wait to start using the symbols of the ISWA 2008 in
SignPuddle...in the next couple of months it will become a part of our
daily lives...We need the new symbols, because the ISWA includes
handshapes needed to write new signed languages, and also more variety
of movement symbols and facial expressions, and no DanceWriting
symbols or skateboards (grin)...so it is just for SignWriting, which
means we have only 30 Symbol Groups instead of 50 Symbol Groups like
before in the old IMWA...so it feels cleaner and less
complicated...but includes symbols we have always needed...plus some
standardization has become the norm...the Circle symbols are more
consistent and so forth...
Val ;-)
