I am sorry if my explanation of Kellogg Center was misread as "didn't you know". Kellogg Center has only been around for about 6 years, and it wasn't until this past year that it really came into its own as a conference space. When the Pope came to town, every hotel space in Washington was taken, so Kellogg was able to be full and now has many corporate users as well as non-profits.

Hello Charles -
Do you know that I did not know myself anything about the Kellogg Center...it sounds wonderful and I will enjoy presenting in the tiered space if need be!

I should be hearing back from Gallaudet Kellogg Center and I am going to ask them to review for anywhere between October 2008 to October of 2009. All of you are good in saying to take at least 9 months (not 5) for planning. Getting the first wave by September of 2009 and a second wave by January 2009 would probably be best but we do need to change the approximate date to Spring of 2009.
For those of you who do not know, the Kellogg Center is a separate hotel on the Gallaudet University campus with 120 sleeping rooms and a state-of-the-art conference center with 12 spaces on the second floor seating from 12-80 people, including one tiered space for teleconferencing.
If we build in a few presentations in the tiered space, I am hoping that you, Valerie, will be able to participate with us all without travel.

Yes...this is a huge job to put all this together and it is impressive...I didn't realize that Gallaudet was available for conferences in this way...what a wonderful opportunity for all of us!
So THANK YOU, Charles, for taking the time and effort...
I can imagine the dates for conferences have to be confirmed way in advance, to capture the best dates and times for the facilities to be available?
So if the Abstracts are due September 1st, 2008, is there enough time to setup the conference by October 2008? You will need some assistants to help you ;-)

I personally understand this to mean any sign language can be used as the language of the presentator's topic that he or she chooses. Then the next paragraph just limits what topic can be picked. (Basically anything as long as it is related to SignWriting.) I think it is very clear as is. Good job Charles in putting this together. Quite a bit of work. I know I'd never be able to pull something like this together. I know that it will be a good conference. I look forward to it. ;-)

for Papers - EDITED
Charles,
Maybe this is being too picky but doesn't the 4th paragraph starting with "Topics" negate the third paragraph, "Any signed language is welcome to present using any subject matter"?
