well, - not always! Smile - You know that I started to work a decade ago
with the good old SignWriter DOS program. There is a convert to columns
function but for every day use it turned out to be not practical. So I wrote
many documents horizontally. I can read these documents very fast - same
with my students. I am still one of the scribes who prefer to write
horizontally. This is done in order to allow my students to improve spoken
language skills and it is so much easier to write long documents with lots
and lots of phrases. I understand that SignPuddle 1.5 does not allow writing
from left to right in the actual version. How about coming updates. Is there
any opportunity to add an option to write horizontally for those who prefer
to do that?
Nevertheless in this case the punctuation graphemes are written just the way
we do in spoken language.

Thanks for the comments. I'll try to integrate your ideas. This is
only a brief introduction to the SignWriting script. The main purpose
of the document is to describe a coded character set.
3 Types of graphemes
* The writing graphemes are used in clusters when writing a sign.
* The detailed location graphemes are used individually or in sequence,
but not in a written text. These graphemes represent analysis outside

The writing graphemes of the SignWriting script are arranged in spatial
clusters on a variably sized 2 dimensional canvas. Every cluster
has two centers: absolute and artistic.
The absolute center of a cluster is defined as the center of a
bounding box: the smallest possible rectangle that encloses a set of
graphemes. Graphemes for the head and trunk are special for
centering. If a cluster includes any head or trunk graphemes, the
bounding box is only placed around those head and trunk graphemes.
