Hello Charles and everyone -
Thank you for this question. This can get complex, especially since we normally do not write from the side view…Here is a diagram I just created trying to show the Surface Symbols that are parallel with the Front Wall. The little bubble on the symbol shows if the hand is in front or in back, and shows what surface is touching what surface - Unfortunately my time is limited today but I hope later today to be able to discuss this more - Here is my diagram in the Brazilian SignPuddle dictionary…which I can delete later… It shows the surface of the little finger of the right hand is touching the surface of the thumb of the left hand, which is in front of the right hand….Have a great day everyone - Val ;-)

It is a well written sign, but that is the one question I have with it - The placement of the Surface Symbol near the Flat Hand confused me at first…

It depends on what you are doing - if it is for everyday use, then seeing it from the side, and also eliminating all Surface Symbols and Contact symbols is the way we write here. The Contact is assumed since the two hand symbols are written so close to each other. Our goal is usually simplicity for daily writing.
