I have experience with noosfero(http://noosfero.org/Site/ScreenShots)
it is the most customizable i have used so far and the more friendly  
for sysadmins as it has integrations with anti-malware software and  
monitoring services... it uses oostatus federated authorization easing  
integration with other instances and socialnetwork applications
