SignWriting List
October 24, 2017
Hello Honza and everyone -
Erika is not a teacher at Stefan's school, but is a friend and researcher who came to Germany from the United States to research Stefan's work with Deaf children and SignWriting and his development of Mundbildschrift years ago. You can read about Erika Hoffman-Dilloway on our SignWriting web site. I will send the links for Stefan's work, and for Erika's work, next message.
Both Erika and Stefan presented at the SignWriting Symposium 2014, and Stefan also presented at the 2015 Symposium. Erika is an anthropologist, and a professor in the Anthropology Department at Oberlin College, in Ohio, in the US. Erika researched SignWriting from a linguistic and anthropological point of view, and also wrote about SignWriting in several academic journals.
My gratitude goes out to both Stefan and Erika.
Honza - we need to find other teachers of SignWriting to help you in your search, and I promise I will try to put you in touch with excellent teachers. I am sorry I have not done this sooner, but I will try to focus on it now. Stefan is unable to work for health reasons and is no longer online. So we are blessed with all the gifts he has provided to us and we need to reach out to others to carry on his work. It is on my mind everyday to keep his work going here. I have slowed down a little myself, but I am still here, and I hope to do a lot more.
Let me get a cup of coffee, and our day begins here in sunny southern California!
Val ;-)
