Subject: NEILS9: February 5-7, 2016 (Call deadline: Sept 15, 2015)
Dear fellow linguist and/or North East Indianist,
Apologies for the second email regarding the Call for Papers for NEILS9. The previous email had a mistake in the dates of the conference. Please note that the conference will take place from February 5-7, 2016. There are no other changes in the Call for Papers, which is copied below for your convenience.
We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the 9th International Conference of the North East Indian Linguistics Society (NEILS). NEILS9 will take place from February 5-7, 2016, in Tezpur, Assam, India and will be hosted by the Department of English and Foreign Languages, Tezpur University. The conference venue will be the campus of Tezpur University, Napaam, Tezpur, Sonitpur, Assam.
As the primary focus of NEILS is description of the rich cultural-linguistic diversity that exists in North East India, papers should have a primary descriptive component, preferably from a functional-typological or anthropological-linguistic perspective. Field reports are acceptable. Papers whose sole or primary focus is formal, theoretical and/or computational in nature, or papers whose focus is about languages not spoken in North East India, are unlikely to be accepted for presentation. However, we will consider papers concerning languages spoken in the areas of Myanmar, China, Bhutan, Bangladesh and West Bengal that border the North East.
To present a paper at the Conference, please send an abstract of no more than 500 words (exclusive of data and references, if any) no later than September 15, 2015 via email to *both* Stephen Morey <mailto:s.morey at latrobe.edu.au> s.morey at latrobe.edu.au<mailto:s.morey at latrobe.edu.au> *and* Linda Konnerth <mailto:lkonnert at uoregon.edu> lkonnert at uoregon.edu<mailto:lkonnert at uoregon.edu>.
Please send *both* the original abstract (.docx, .doc, .odf, .rtf or .txt format) *and* a .pdf of the same. Please save the file using the following format: NEILS9_Abstract_INITIAL+SURNAME_BRIEFTITLE.EXT For example, NEILS9_Abstract_PSingh_ManipuriPronouns.doc.
Important: When preparing your abstract, do not use any special formatting, styles, etc. Just give the paper title, your name and affiliation, and your abstract, in plain text. That’s all!
Notification of acceptance will normally take place in early to mid October, although early submissions/decisions for those needing to make extensive advance travel arrangements can be arranged.
Fees
The fee schedule for NEILS is as follows, and includes lunch and tea/snacks on each day of the conference:

If a fee is not paid by non-attending authors, only one certificate will be issued to the attending author, but naming the paper and all the authors.
d) Jointly authored papers, one of whose authors is unable to attend the conference, will be considered for publication in the NEILS volumes under the name of all co-authors.
