I am pleased to announce that the new 19th edition of the Ethnologue has
been released online <https://www.ethnologue.com/> and will be available in
print format within a few months. The Ethnologue now aims to release a new
version every year on February 21 (International Mother Language Day).
For Myanmar specifically, a number of name changes and information updates
are included and the maps have been updated. Some of the main name changes
to better represent endonyms are
* Yinnet to Riang Lang
* Riang to Riang Lai
* Para Naga to Jejara Naga
* Koki Naga to Kokak (will also include Naga in next edition)
* Manumanaw to Kawyaw
MIMU has also produced beautiful maps based on the 18th edition data in
English and Burmese. Note that there are still some errors in the maps and
no doubt many things to improve: http://themimu.info/search/node/ethnologue
As always, the Ethnologue welcomes your input.
Thanks,
Nathan Statezni
