Dear Norihiko,
That is very sad news. Professor Takeuchi is the first person one thinks of when thinking of scholars of Tibetan in Japan. My heart goes to his family as well.
Would it be possible to put together a website with all his publications so that scholars can continue to benefit from all his excellent research?
Thank you.
Stay well,
Randy

His doctoral dissertation to Indiana University was published as a book entitled Old Tibetan Contracts from Central Asia (by Daizo Shuppan), which has been widely cited by many Tibetanists. Since then, he had worked for constructing the online database for Old Tibetan documents, cataloging wooden slips preserved in the British Library, and deciphering the documents of the Zhangzhung language. For 40 years, Tsugu has led Tibetan linguistics and philology and taught many young scholars. He was also a board member of the International Association for Tibetan Studies and had been the president of the Japanese Association for Tibetan Studies until last year.

He has taught English, Japanese, Tibetan and general linguistics at Kinki University, Kyoto University of Education and Kobe City University of Foreign Studies until 2017. He loved drinking beer and red wine with his colleagues and students after his work was finished every evening.
