[Ura-list] Jobs: Postdoc Vienna

Dear All,

while preparing to say goodbye to Timothy Riese, my very dear colleague, a highly esteemed specialist, an excellent teacher and the most faithful pillar of Finno-Ugric studies in Vienna throughout years – he is retiring in a couple of days and will be sorely missed –  I'm happy to inform you about his "succession": a postdoc position in Finno-Ugric studies (Universitätsassistentin PostDoc) will be announced, hopefully, in a few days. The announcement should appear in the next few days on the "JobCenter" (auf gut Deutsch) website of the University of Vienna, http://personalwesen.univie.ac.at/jobs-recruiting/job-center/ <http://personalwesen.univie.ac.at/jobs-recruiting/job-center/> .

The applicants are expected to have a PhD, competences in at least one Finno-Ugric minority language and in relevant areas of linguistics. The work contract will be for six years, starting with March 2018 (!). The continuation is NOT guaranteed, but so far, there have been regular "Entfristungsaktionen" in our faculty, and if the person employed really shows her/his abilities in research ("Habilitation"), teaching and management (including successful project applications), judging from the current practices (of course, nobody knows what happens in the next few years) s/he should have good chances for continued employment. 

So, please, all relatively fresh PhDs in our field who would like to do research and some teaching (and administration, including helping with the organisation of CIFU XIII ;) ) in Vienna, consider sending in your applications! And please, everybody, feel free to spread the word!
