Dear all,
I have just cleaned up the subscriber list and removed some 30 addresses which are no more operational. Some of them belong to people who are also subscribed with a valid address, some are completely obscure, and I don't have any time or energy to try to find all those people and ask them whether they want to continue subscribing to URA-LIST. I can only ask all of you to spread the information among your colleagues:
if you are interested in following URA-LIST, just send a message with the text (in the message body!)
subscribe ura-list my.own at e-mail.here <mailto:my.own at e-mail.here>
to majordomo at helsinki.fi <mailto:majordomo at helsinki.fi>.
If you don't want to be on the list any more, do the same with "unsubscribe".
Should your e-mail address change, unsubscribe from the old address and subscribe from the new one.
Once you are on the list, you should be able to send mail to the list directly: ura-list at helsinki.fi <mailto:ura-list at helsinki.fi> . If your message doesn't go through, it is either too big or (this is the more usual reason) you are sending your mail from a different address than what you used for subscribing, and poor Majordomo doesn't recognize you as a list member. Such mails are forwarded to the moderator (yours truly), but it can happen that they are sandwiched between the usual loads of spam and get deleted. Please don't hesitate to ask me if you have any problems with your messages.
Best
jl
