Rakas kollega, hyvä ystävä prof. Tette Hofstra (1943-2023) on siirtynyt
eilen taivaalliseen tutkimusryhmään.
Tette oli peruskoulutukseltaan germanisti ja muinaisgermanisti, mutta hän
laajensi  tutkimusalaansa itämerensuomalaisiin kieliin, erityisesti näiden
kielten vanhoihin germaanisiin lainasanoihin. ja kuului vuosikymmenten ajan
tämän tutkimusalan kantaviin voimiin.

Dear friend/colleague of Tette,

With sadness in our hearts, we wish to let you know that Tette has passed
away unexpectedly early this morning.

During the past few years, he had been struggling with his health, although
the last two months he appeared to be getting better. Tette was looking
forward to the spring season and he had numerous plans for this year.

The funeral service will be held February 28th in “Crematorium Ommeland en
Stad” in Eelderwolde, starting at 10:00 a.m CET. Afterwards, he will be
laid to rest in Roden. We will send obituaries over the next few days, but
it may take some time for those to arrive, hence this message.

If you’re unable to come, but wish to attend the service online, we can
send you a link for the live stream. Please let us know by email so we can
send you the details.

If you see another friend/colleague abroad is missing on the recipient list
of this email, please feel free to inform us.
