Applications are invited for two (02) purely temporary positions of Project Linked Personnel to work in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India project “Indian Languages Corpora Initiative (ILCI)” in the Linguistic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.
 
1. Qualification
 
Essential: 55% marks in M.A. in Linguistics/English/Bengali with excellent linguistic knowledge in Hindi, or 55% marks in MA in Hindi with excellent command in Bengali and English from a recognized University/ Institute or equivalent with consistently good academic record.
 
Desirable: (a) Knowledge of working in MS WORD and EXCEL with Bengali software; (b) Experience in translation works from Hindi to Bengali; (c) Good command in Bengali morphology; (d) Knowledge in Grammatical Annotation and POS Tagging of text corpora. Working experience in similar projects will carry preference.
 
2. Pay: Rs. 12000/- (Rupees twelve thousand only) to Rs. 14000/- (Rupees fourteen thousand only) per month (consolidated) based on the performance of the candidate.
 
3. Tenure of Appointment: The appointment will be for a period of 6 months (and may be extended by another year depending upon availability of funds and performance of the candidate).
 
4. Age: The age limit is 35 years as on 01 June 2009. Usual relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped and extraordinary candidates.
