Call for Bids: 13th Global Wordnet Conference (January 2027)

The *Global Wordnet Association* welcomes bids from potential organizers of
the *13th Global Wordnet Conference*, to be held in *January 2027*.

   - *Deadline for proposals:* *15 May 2026* (we apologize for the short
   notice)
   - *Decision announced:* *22 May 2026*

Proposal criteria

   -

   *Expected size:* 50–100 people
   -

   *Logistics*
   - Convenient and reasonably priced international flight connections
      - Inexpensive lodging for participants on small budgets
   -

   *Date*
   - Projected date: January 2027
      - Conference length of 4 days
   -

   *Participants / Content*
   - Efforts to expand participation beyond the current wordnet community
      are encouraged
      - Co-located tutorials, workshops, panels, hackathons, shared tasks,
      and other events are welcome
   -

   *Proceedings*
   - Local organizers act as main editors
      - Proceedings must obtain an ISBN and be freely downloadable from the
      GWA website
      - Proceedings should be registered in the ACL Anthology (the GWA
      Board will assist)
   -

   *Budget and Fees* *(model – variations may be proposed)*
   - Aim to keep the regular participant fee at *€200 or less* (lower is
      better)
      - Reduced fee for students and participants from under-funded
      countries
      - Fees should cover:
         - Proceedings (electronic & ISBN)
         - Coffee breaks
         - Lunches (depending on local costs)
      - Fees do *not necessarily* cover:
         - Accommodation
         - Dinners
         - Local transport to the venue
      - Optional additional fees may cover: banquet, excursion
   -

   *Costs borne by local organizer*
   - Meeting rooms and equipment rental
      - Local support staff
   -

   *Sponsorship*
   - Organizers are encouraged to seek sponsors
      - Invited speaker(s) from the international community to be selected
      in consultation with the GWA Board
   -

   *Board and local organizers*
   - Number of invited speakers depends on available financial support
      - Local organizers may additionally invite and sponsor local speakers
      in consultation with the GWA Board
   -

   *Financial responsibility*
   - The GWA cannot contribute financially or assume financial
      responsibility
      - Financial responsibility rests entirely with the local organizer
      - Early registration is encouraged to reduce risk
      - Require at least one early-registered author per accepted paper for
      inclusion in the proceedings
   -

   *Program Committee*
   - GWA Board members
      - Co-chairs: the GWA Chair and one local candidate proposed by
      organizers (ratified by the Board)
      - others to be invited by the program chairs.
      - Best paper award planned
      - Program Committee to be formed *before* the Call for Papers
