Thanks, Bill, these contributions are terrific.  Since I do see The Yale
Book of Quotations as a kind of OED for quotations and proverbs, and since
I am actively working on future editions or other books for which this
kind of thing is highly relevant, I encourage people on ADS-L to think in
terms of trying to antedate the material in YBQ and posting their
discoveries or e-mailing them to me.
