Subject:Reading Arabic Word Documents under Mac OS X

As a follow-up to my latest discovery, here's an easy method for
reading Arabic-script MS Word documents on the Mac:

1 -open the Arabic Word doc in Word 2004; it will display the correct
Arabic letters, right-to-left, though unjoined.

2 - select all, then copy (to the clipboard)

3 - past clipboard into Mellel: The text will appear correctly joined

4 - change the text direction to right-to-left: Your document will
appear correctly, with (some?) styles and jsutification in place.

This works perfectly under OS X 10.3.7 with MS Word 2004. I have not
tested under earlier configurations.

Happy reading!

Albrecht

PS: Interestingly, this does *not* work with pasting into TextEdit,
where the pasted letters will remain un-joined.
