Subject:American Academic Research Institute in Iraq

I received a communication from the American Academic Research  
Institute in Iraq inviting proposals from US scholars for "feasible  
research on Iraq-related topics outside the country" since the  
current situation does not allow them to sponsor American scholars in  
Iraq itself.  Both post and pre doctoral research is supported, with  
awards up to $10,000 in any field of the humanities or social sciences.
Applications must be received by Nov. 15, 2006. Awards will be  
announced in January, for projects to begin after March 15, 2007.   
Eligibility is limited to US citizens who are either post-graduate  
researchers or full-time graduate students in recognized degree  
programs.  Awards will be made on the basis of merit as determined by  
a review panel consisting of scholars from the member universities  
(the institute is a consortium of American universities).
