As regards your analysis of Wilson's 'outburst' I largely agree with you.  
The simple form suggests that the reproach was intended as a  generalisable 
one: "you (always) lie". Still, it was placed at some  particular point of 
Obama's speech - his assertion that illegal immigrants would  not benefit 
from health care reform - and hence, the general verdict "you  (always) lie" 
was prompted by that particular portion of the  discourse. Seen thus, it can 
be interpreted as discourse deixis.
 
Could you maybe refer me to some concrete work(s) by Donna Byron?
