Language ideology and pedagogy: Cry for help

Bad writing because I am writing outside my own experiences. Basically, the
kind of sociolinguistics she works on will require her to evaluate
individual students, on the basis of some kind of assessment/measurement
practice (i.e. survey), as to their personal attitudes and perceptions about
Arabic, which she will then attempt to link to some assessment/measurement
of their learning process. This is about as far as one can get from my own
brand of sociolinguistics -- in which I try to analyze underlying
assumptions from elicited and naturally occurring discourse. So I am asking
if there are foreign language teachers on the lists I posted this to who
might know of published assessment schedules that she could use of modify
for her use.

Hi,

I am interested in language ideologies. I don't think I can
help you with your (Mark's) student's project, though, but I
am curious about what you mean by this:

[Mark Peterson:]

> appreciated

I mean, what do you have in mind with "measuring language
ideology"?
