The School of Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder announces three tenure track faculty positions for the 2011-2012 academic year: Educational Psychology and Learning Sciences, Second Language Acquisition/Bilingual Education, and Science Education. 

 

The CU-Boulder School of Education is located at the flagship campus of the University of Colorado, situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains 25 miles northwest of Denver. The School intends to hire at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels, with consideration given to hiring at the Professor level when appropriate. Scholars of color are strongly encouraged to apply. 

 

Responsibilities: Candidates for the positions must be willing to contribute to teaching and program development in the teacher education and graduate programs, conduct research, publish in significant refereed journals, and seek outside funding. Candidates must be committed to working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. 

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience and scholarly record. 

 

Second Language Acquisition/Bilingual Education: The Bilingual/ESL programs at the University of Colorado at Boulder focus on educational research, policy, and practice related to all cultural and linguistic groups in the U.S., with a particular emphasis on Spanish speaking populations in the southwestern U.S. Candidates for this position must have an earned doctorate in second language acquisition or bilingual education or related field, a strong background in bilingual education or second language acquisition, and experience with curriculum and teaching in elementary or secondary public schools. Candidates must have a strong research agenda in an aspect of language acquisition and its social and political contexts or in bilingual education. Teaching responsibilities include methods classes for endorsement in bilingual/ESL and initial teacher preparation classes as well as graduate courses in the Educational Equity and Cultural Diversity program area. Preference will be given to candidates who are fluent in spoken and written Spanish and who have experience with culturally and linguistically diverse students.
