Hi Francisc,

here is a link to a paper that basically confirms what you say above. 
Interestingly, the author argues that the modern Ossetic language 
includes Germanic words like thau = tauen in modern German and thaw in 
English; and gau= gau in German and region/area in English. If that 
was really true, maybe the Ossetic language perserved a few Gothic 
words?
