[gothic-l] Gothic Language Experts - assistance

Hi everybody, I am new to this site.

I have been interested in the late Roman Empire for more than half my
life and have a particular interest in the Goths.

I am currently working on some pet projects, which, given my record
to date, may never see completion. However, one is a novel about
Fritigern - look for it in about 15 years time.

The other is a wargame (it's been a folly of mine for as long as my
historical intereston the battle of Adrianople).

I would like some assistance for the latter in terms of appropriate
Gothic labels for the various warriors in Fritigern's array.

I have the units labelled as "thiufa" with distinctions
between "frijai" (freemen, bulk of army) and "siponjos" (retainers of
the leader)

For the allied horsemen, I intend using only their tribal names:
Greuthungi, Alani, Hunni (I don't believe there should be any Taifali
or Heruli at Adrianople, but please correct me if anyone has any
research to the contrary).

I would like suggestions for the following:

skirmishers or jaegers
peasants or militia (not normally fighters)
foreigners (Roman deserter, runaway slaves etc.)

Also interested in the appropriate word for horseman or cavalry.

thanks in advance,
Iain
